Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), expressed concerns over the possibility of an increase in the price of petrol and diesel.
“It is disturbing to hear stories of an increase in the price of petroleum products up to Rs6 per liter after only three days. “It is possible that the reports would lead to an increase in petrol stockpiling in the country,” Shehbaz Sharif stated in a statement.
He urged the government to take quick action against the stockpiling of petrol in the market, which he attributed to reports of an impending increase in the price of petroleum products.
“The government bears legal and administrative duty for the protection of the rights of ordinary consumers.” It is my intention to warn people ahead of time that if there is a crisis, the government will be held responsible,” he stated.
According to the head of the opposition said in the National Assembly, increased gasoline prices will only serve to further inflate the economy. It seemed like an accident happened every day in the country, proving that there was no such thing as a government, as he insisted.
He claimed that the country was occasionally faced with a wheat and bread shortage, as well as sugar, fertilizer, and petrol shortages.
Petroleum products were subjected to an increase of up to Rs4 per liter by the government on the night of the New Year’s celebration.
