Rain and snow on mountains are expected across the country from December 25. Rains will be especially beneficial for the wheat crop.
According to the Meteorological Department, westerly winds will enter the upper parts of the country on Saturday evening. Rain is expected in different parts of Balochistan and Sindh on Saturday and Sunday. Rain from Sunday to Tuesday in Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected.
According to Meteorological Department, there is a chance of heavy rain along with strong winds in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and in Kasur.
Meteorological Department said snowfall is also expected in Murree, Galyat, Neelum Valley, Naran, Kagan, Hunza, and Malam Jabba.
This will likely result in a reduction in the current levels of smog in urban parts of Punjab, as well as water scarcity in rain-fed areas and the rains will be particularly good for the wheat crop, according to the statement.
