Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan was scheduled to officially inaugurate the Green line Bus Project, which was one of five major projects proposed by the federal government for Karachi as part of the Karachi Transformation Plan.
The Green Line Bus project with junctions in Karachi is 24 kilometers long, comprising 12.7 kilometers of elevated track, 10.9 kilometers of grade track, and 422 kilometers of underground track, and it includes 25 stations.
The 2.5-kilometer-long phase-II common strip from Gurumandir to Municipal Park features two underpasses along MA Jinnah Road, one at either end of the strip.
An ultramodern revolutionary bus station with a parking lot and commercial mezzanine level was also being built in Numaish, along with the parking lot and mezzanine floor. Construction of Phase I of the project began in 2016 and finished by the end of 2018.
The Greenline Rapid Bus Transit Project had been symbolically inaugurated’ the day before by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, who was joined by party workers and leaders in the ceremony.
He told reporters that people who had previously referred to the Metro Bus as the “Jangla Bus Service” were now traveling to Karachi to inaugurate it in order to secure credit for the project. He claimed that it was the PML-N government that established the Green Line Bus Service between Karachi and Lahore.
“[Prime Minister] Imran Khan now understands how the country progresses as a result of motorways,” Iqbal previously stated.
The former planning minister went on to say that if given the opportunity, the PML-N will transform Karachi into a model metropolis, whose progress would aid the state of Sindh in its development.
