Meghan and Harry blew it during royal leave talks

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal exit has been deemed needlessly difficult due to their ‘overplayed’ hands during talks.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have “overplayed their hand,” according to The Atlantic’s Caitlin Flanagan. “The Queen doesn’t need them, not at that price,” she said.

The royal couple intended to “carve out a progressive new role” within the monarchy while also giving equal time to the UK and the US. But the couple’s “idealised” concept of progress became impossible to implement. “The Queen’s major goal throughout her reign has been to protect and preserve the monarchy for future generations.”

En front of the Queen’s rejection, Harry and Meghan had to give up what they “thought was theirs.”

“They clearly regarded their royal status as a value proposition that they could exploit to become independently wealthy,” she claimed, explaining why she felt a ‘hard Megxit’ was the only realistic solution.

[The Queen] still believes in certain ideas, first among them dignity and duty, and she is still able to inspire it, even in a Diana-fied society.

She ended by mentioning earlier royals like King Edward VIII and even the Queen’s uncle. To ‘cash in’ on their royal status, Flanagan feels Harry and Meghan rejected their elder pattern. Their demands mirrored “Meghan’s Hollywood dreams” more than anything else.
