The Punjab administration has withdrawn its reference to banning Ansarul Islam. When the government lifted the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
“Home department has withdrawn reference from the provincial Cabinet on imposing a ban on Ansarul Islam,” said Abu Bakr Chaudhry, JUI-F Punjab deputy secretary general. “Ansarul Islam is a crucial part of the JUI-F,” he remarked.
He said the Punjab government had banned the JUI-Ansarul F’s Islam wing a few months ago and informed the cabinet committee. He denied Ansarul Islam was a militant outfit. Ansarul Islam, he claimed, is a volunteer organisation that works for relief.
The home department delivered a summary to the cabinet committee and recommended to the chief minister that JUI-volunteer F’s group Ansarul Islam be banned. The Punjab cabinet will decide whether to prohibit the JUI-volunteer F’s group.
