Shaking Shahbaz Sharif’s hand de-stigmatizes, says PM Imran Khan

On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that if he shakes hands with Shahbaz Sharif, the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, it will normalise corruption in the country.

During a ceremony at the Academy of Letters following the inauguration of the “Hall of Fame,” the prime minister said, “people ask me why I don’t shake hands with [Shahbaz], given that he is the Opposition leader.

“Cases of corruption in the billions of rupees have been filed against him. Adding to this by shaking his hand, I will send the message that this [corruption] is not a negative development “he explained.

The prime minister cited England as an example, saying that even if a politician is suspected of embezzling public funds, they are not called on television and are not allowed to attend parliamentary sessions until their reputation has been cleared.

‘Over there, it’s inconceivable that a person convicted of corruption worth billions of rupees would go to the parliament and conduct a two-hour-long address,’ says the minister.

“Their standards are different from ours,” the prime minister remarked of such countries’ standards.

“It is for this reason that I have formed the Rehmatul-lil-Alameen Authority,” he stated, calling on intellectuals and scholars to provide the greatest guidance possible to young people as they face the new problems that have arisen in the modern era of technology.

According to him, because we cannot restrict social media and the internet, the only way to safeguard our younger generations from the detrimental effects of digital innovation is to familiarise them with the moral and ethical principles established by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In a recent interview, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that film and television creators have a significant obligation to lead younger generations in the right route through their creations.
