Google is Celebrating its 23rd Birthday with Cute Animated Doodle

A unique doodle on the Google site is being used to commemorate the company’s 23rd birthday, which occurs today, September 27. You may not be aware of this, but Google hasn’t always celebrated its birthday on September 27th. For example, although Google celebrated its fourth birthday on September 27, 2002, the company celebrated its fifth birthday on September 8, 2003, with a doodle created by Google. And the date for the sixth birthday was set on September 7, 2004, to commemorate the occasion.

In 2005, the doodle was really posted on September 26th to commemorate the 7th birthday of Google. Google, on the other hand, has remained with September 27 as the date since 2006.

When did Google Start?

While Google has retained September 27 as its official birthday, the search engine has celebrated a slew of other milestones throughout the years. The domain name Google.com was registered on September 15, 1997, making it the 24th birthday of the company if 1997 is taken as the year of registration.

However, Google as a project was started in January 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were both students at Stanford University at the time. January, on the other hand, has never been regarded an official birthday month.

On September 4, 1998, the firm was formally established as a legal entity. Of course, this means that the birthday should preferably be celebrated on September 4. So, why was September 27 chosen as the date for the celebration? The day of September 27th was chosen to commemorate the achievement of a new milestone in the number of pages that Google has indexed in the search engine’s database.

Keep in mind that when Google first launched, it was not the largest nor the only search engine in the world. Yahoo was by far the larger company, but Google gradually and methodically gained control of the whole market. Google has adhered to the September 27 deadline for the previous few years, and it is expected to do so in the future.

In the last several years, we’ve seen Google expand its scope beyond its original function as a search engine. There’s Gmail, Android, the Play Store, and Google Assistant, to name a few things. The company’s most important products are YouTube and Google Meet, to mention a few of examples. Lastly, sure, the most of Google’s key products currently have more than a billion users apiece, demonstrating exactly how dominant the firm has become over 23 years after it initially launched its services.
