MDCAT Candidates want a retest

Candidates for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) staged a sit-in outside the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) building on Thursday, demanding that the test be retaken.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the students and their parents staged the sit-in after negotiations between students and PMC officials over the issue of a retest proved to be unsuccessful.

The students who demonstrated yesterday claimed that the data of thousands of students had been leaked as a result of the hacking of PMC’s website the day before.

According to the students, the PMC has jeopardised the futures of hundreds of students by taking action.

Meanwhile, the PMC administration has stated that it is aware of the protesting students’ position and is working to resolve it.

According to officials from the PMC, “every effort is being made to assure merit in MDCAT.” They also stated that the commission’s goal is to bring the medical industry into compliance with internationally recognised standards.

Prior to then, a significant number of students from various colleges demonstrated against the PMC outside the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry, demanding that the MDCAT be held on a single day throughout the country.
