By 2025, there will be around 5 million Chinese laborers in Pakistan

Officials in Pakistan said on Tuesday that by 2025, more than 5 million Chinese nationals would be employed in the country, a sign of the country’s increasing influence in the region.

An interview with The News International revealed that a senior Pakistani public health expert stated that improving collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese medical universities, research institutes, and biotechnological firms as part of the China Pakistan Health Corridor will be necessary to meet the health needs of these workers, among other things (CPHC).

As a result, some analysts believe that China is attempting to further entrench its foothold in the country.

In the interview, Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the Health Services Academy (HSA), said that the academy’s goal is to educate Pakistani specialists in contemporary medical technology as well as traditional Chinese medicine, which is the treatment of choice for millions of Chinese people. “These specialists will not only meet the medical requirements of visiting Chinese nationals, but also of the Pakistani people, who are believers in complementary and alternative medicine,” Khan said.
