UN concerned about rising innocent Afghan civilians killing in War

United Nations said that innocent Afghan civilians are bearing the brunt of fighting that spread to cities in the war-ravaged country. Taliban assaults are mounting on the southern cities of Kandahar, Lashkargah, and Herat. Afghan health officials said at least 40 civilians have killed and about 200 wounded in past days.

“Taliban ground offensive & Afghan National Army airstrikes causing the most harm. Deep concerns about indiscriminate shooting, & damage to health facilities & civilian homes. Moreover, Parties should do more to protect civilians or impact will catastrophic,” the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said on Twitter.

Heavy fighting is going between Afghan forces and Taliban at the gates of Herat, Lashkargah, and Kandahar. The head of Herat’s hospital told media that 25 civilians have killed and over 100 wounded in past four days.

Herat’s Governor is on the front lines of the conflict. He told in a press conference that security forces were carrying out clearing operations in various parts of the city. Furthermore, the Taliban had pushed back.
