Sindh would not be permitted to impose total lockdown says IT Minister Fawad Chaudhry

Sindh Government was not permitted to enforce a total lock-out across the province, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry stated, as the strategy for control of COVID-19’s spread was clear.

Throughout commenting on the Sindh government’s announcement of the implementation of locks in the province, the Supreme Court decided that the provinces would not be able to take unilateral choices in this respect.

In a statement, Chaudhary said Pakistan is under Article 151 and Karachi Port is the ‘jugular vein of its economy’ on the internal market. No move that may harm the economic lifeblood of the country could be permitted.

He told the Sindh government that unilateral actions cannot be tolerated in this respect.

President Khan remarked that a full lockdown of workers, in particular day-to-day workers, would have a serious influence on the working class.

The situation in Karachi would not be so dismal today if the Sindh administration executed the SOPs efficiently.
