The Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader and MNA Shahzain Bugti were nominated for the first time on Wednesday by Prime Minister Imran Khan as his Special Assistant in Baluchistan on reconciliation and peace.
In a statement, the Cabinet Division stated: “The Premier was delighted to immediately designate Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti MNA as Prime Minister Special Assistant for Reconciliation and Harmony in Balochistan. He is the Minister of the Federal Republic.”
The appointment is in the hands of the Government that is engaged in discussions with “disgruntled” Baloch leaders not connected with India.
In addition to the government’s previous statements about links to India, Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, said that Balochistan would soon be a “cradle of peace”.
Two days ago PM Imran Khan indicated that he was thinking of talking to the rebels in Balochistan, given the changing scenario in the province and pushing Pakistan to a brighter future.
The Prime Minister, who spoke about an event in Gwadar, had remarked that the militants may be unhappy with the state because of prior complaints, or India could have exploited it to terrorize Pakistan.
The newly appointed SAPM has been elected from the NA-259 district of Dera Bugti. His political party is also an ally with the PTI-led Centre.
