Iraqi Prime Minister met with Egyptian and Jordanian leaders

Iraqi Prime Minister is seeking to work with the Arab world to strengthen Iraq's role in the region.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi honored a tri-nation meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Sunday. It was to strengthen economic ties, security cooperation and regional stability. The meeting was an important message to people that they support each other and unite to serve their people of the region.

This meeting had first scheduled for March 27 but postponed twice due to the tragic train crash in Egypt. Also due to some problematic events for Jordan’s stability.

Egyptian President’s arrival in Baghdad marked the first visit by an Egyptian leader since Saddam Hussein‘s invasion of Kuwait. Jordan’s King came to attend a tri-nation summit to build an economic partnership outlining Iraq’s new role in the region.

The main challenges facing the three countries are the COVID-19 pandemic, difficult economic conditions, security and terrorism. They stay unite and will continue to coordinate on important regional issues such as conflicts of Syria, Libya, Yemen and Palestine to help brothers in these countries.

Purposes of Iraqi Prime Minister’s with other leaders?

Over the past few years, leaders of these three countries have worked to strengthen economic and trade cooperation.

Iraqi Prime Minister is seeking to work with the Arab world to strengthen Iraq’s role in the region. He want to be a mediator in resolving regional problems including the Iran-Saudi conflict.

These heads of states had agreed to work and coordinate in various areas. It includes the connection of electricity and gas lines between Iraq and Egypt via Jordan. Construction of oil pipeline connecting Iraq’s Basra Oil Center with the Jordanian port city of Aqaba is also in plan.

Further, Iraq and Jordan support Egypt’s position on the issue of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Nile. They stressed the need to step up efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace for Palestinian people to establish of an independent state.
