Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday expressed the government’s willingness to start talks with the opposition, saying opposition National Assembly leader Shehbaz Sharif could appoint a contact.

The minister answered questions about the government’s position when the opposition leader called for talks.

“Although he [Shehbaz] did not send us a written request [for negotiations], we did send it,” the minister said.

“We want to improve relations with the opposition. We wanted to talk to them about reform and now we want to talk to them about it,” he told media in Lahore.

Chaudhry also emphasized the importance of PML-N and PPP in resolving differences in each party.

“Mariam and Shahbaz need to settle their dispute so that they [PML-N] have a clear policy. Similarly, Bilawal and Faryal [Talpur] must have the same policy so that the PPP policy is clear. “

He went on to say that the three main opposition players, including PPP, PML-N and Pakistan, are democratic

However, he added that the government recognizes that the opposition has an important role to play in Pakistan and personally believes that the opposition should support the government’s actions on important issues such as electoral reform.
