Some parts of the city were without power for several hours nights as the heat combined with traffic jams made life worse for residents.
Power supplies to districts C-1 and B-1 in Liaquatabad were cut off at 11 pm. Other areas that have had to bear the brunt of prolonged blackouts are Surjani City, North Karachi, Haideri, North Nazimabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Federal Zone B.
Contamination was also reported in the areas of PIB Colony, Landhi 36B, AB Senior Line, Jacob Line, Kharadar, and Model Colony Sheet No. 7.
Last week, the metropolitan city experienced a severe blackout due to the disruption of high-voltage lines on the Jamshoro-Karachi line, multiplying Karachi’s suffering in hot weather.
More than 45 grid stations in Karachi were affected by the blackout, after which most of the city was cut off from the grid.
In a statement, KE said the supply of spare parts from Karachi was cut off due to a disruption of KE’s 220 kV power lines, which affected the power supply to the connected grid. The error is resolved within a few hours, but it can take hours to fully restore power.
