Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas said on Friday that this year’s summer vacation will only last two to three weeks as students have been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The provincial minister made the remarks during a speech at a press conference in the provincial capital with health minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid.
Murad Raas said the provincial government had started vaccinating teachers and other non-teaching staff at educational institutions.
“The province employs around 16,000 teachers and 4,000 non-teaching personnel. We are attempting to vaccinate instructors by the end of June in order to reopen schools on June 7 “He stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yasmin Rashid said the vaccination process was ongoing and 3.5 million people had contracted in the province.
“Our goal is to vaccinate 150,000 people every day. The only option for COVID-19 is to use SOPs and vaccinations “He stated. Dr. Yasmin Rashid also stated that the administration is striving to vaccinate instructors prior to the reopening of schools.
