According to the ODNI report, fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria has a direct impact on US forces. While tensions between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan remain a problem for the world.
The Office of the Director of the National Intelligence Service (ODNI) presented its annual threat assessment report to the US Congress. Whereas he said, “A war between India and Pakistan is unlikely, a crisis between the two is likely to escalate and risk a war cycle. Moreover, Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India is more likely than in the past to react militarily to Pakistan’s alleged or actual provocations. It also increase the risk of conflict between two nuclear-armed neighbors”.
Earlier this month, India has stated that it wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan in an environment free from terror, hostility and violence. Islamabad has a duty to create an environment free from terror and hostility. But due to revoke of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status by India in August 2019, tensions rised between Pakistan and India. Both are without of envoys in each other’s capital.
ODNI report facts about Afghanistan and others
“The Afghan forces continue to secure major cities and other government strongholds. But remained tied down in defensive missions. If the coalition withdraws its support, Kabul continues to face the battlefield. The Taliban is likely to win on the battlefield because they believe to achieve military victory”, report said. The ODNI report also predicts that the prospects for a peace deal for Afghanistan in next year will remain low.
“Activity of foreign forces in Libya, and conflicts in other regions, including Africa, Asia and the Middle East, could increase. It may cause spread to larger areas with high risked tensions”, report.
Repeated violence between Israel and Iran is also a highly concerning issue. Some days ago a explosion took place at Iran’s nuclear facility in Natanz. Whereas Iran is blamming Israel for this act. Both have many other conflicts of different matters”, ODNI report.
