On Friday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari denied that relations with PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

Bilawal wished Fazlur Rehman and Maryam Nawaz, who were both reported to be ill, a speedy recovery during a press conference in Jacobabad.

Bilawal said he doesn’t want to talk about his relationship with Maryam, which he insists is still “good,” for fear of upsetting the situation with a remark he makes. He went on to say that he does not believe Fazlur Rehman is hostile to the PPP or that he favors one party over the other.

Bilawal said that his party will convene a meeting to discuss the recent tensions between the PPP and the PML-N, which arose as a result of the PPP going ahead and electing Yousaf Raza Gillani as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate without the PDM’s blessing.

He claimed that many members of the party had told him that the PPP and PML-N have never gotten along and that it would be a difficult nut to crack.

“However, over the last three years, it has been my effort to bring all parties together for the benefit of democracy.”

“I will make the same point at the CEC meeting […] we do not want this government to benefit from any opposition party infighting,” Bilawal said.
