As the third spike from Covid-19 strengthens, Punjab reported 1,824 positive cases on Thursday, the largest number in a single day, while the virus claimed 43 lives in Punjab.
According to the Punjab government, 17,127 Covid tests have been carried out in the past 24 hours. With these figures, the daily average value of new Covid-19 cases has increased to 1,500.
The comparison shows that in January and February this year the number of tests carried out was roughly the same every day when the daily average score of new cases in Punjab was 400 to 500.
According to official data, the number of positive cases in Punjab stood at 191,186.
For the most obvious reasons, the Punjab government continues to ignore calls from medical and health experts interested in increasing the level of testing in the largest province. So that the actual severity of the disease is known for a fair situation analysis.

Of the new cases reported in Punjab on Thursday, 1,080 were in Lahore. The highest number in eight months or so.
“We have prepared another 70-bed unit with a high-flow oxygen delivery system for patients with respiratory problems,” said Dr. Iftihar Ahmad, the hospital’s health director, told Fajar. The ward, which is now designed for patients with Covid, has been locked and fully functional for months, he added.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid held an emergency meeting on Thursday to review conditions for treating Covid patients in various hospitals.
“We are seeing an alarming increase in the number of coronavirus cases and we urge people to take precautions to limit infection,” she said. She said tests for the coronavirus would soon be carried out on prisoners in the camp prison.
“We have upgraded facilities for Covid patients across the province,” she added.
