Lahore rickshaw harassment suspects’ bail denied

The bail application of two accused in the Lahore rickshaw harassment case was denied on Friday by a local court.

Abdul Rehman and Irfan Ali, two of the suspects, filed a motion to transfer the case to the court of the extra sessions judge. They attempted to secure bail in the case.

The bail application of the suspects, however, was denied by Judge Muhammad Saeed. The victim was able to identify both of the suspects.

On August 24, the Punjab police claimed to have apprehended a third person in connection with the harassment of the victim. On Independence Day, the woman was sitting in a Qingqi rickshaw in the vicinity of Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park.

Police had already apprehended another person in connection with the viral video of a group of ladies being sexually harassed inside a rickshaw in Qingqi, which went viral.

The mobile phones of both prime suspects were also confiscated by police, and they have been transported to a forensic lab for examination.

According to authorities, two of the perpetrators harassed more than seven women on Independence Day and videotaped themselves sexually assaulting a woman.
