KP LG Elections Results: PTI Umar Amin Gandapur Leads Mayor Election

Umar Amin Gandapur of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is a candidate for mayor of Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), is in the lead in the mayoral elections, according to KP LG Elections unofficial results.

Unofficial KP LG elections results from 122 of 296 polling stations show that Umar Amin Gandapur of the PTI is leading with 22,688 votes. Kafeel Nizami, a candidate from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), is trailing with 14,300 votes.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Faisal Karim Kundi is in third place with 10,800 votes, putting him in third place overall.


The counting of votes for the local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is currently underway in all 13 districts of the province.

The re-polling began at 8 a.m. and was completed without interruption until 5 p.m.

Re-elections had to be held on the seats of City Mayor, Tehsil Chairman, Neighborhood and Village Council members where voting had been halted during the first phase of local body elections due to a brawl and the deaths of several candidates, according to the Election Commission.

Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Buner, Bajaur, and Peshawar are among the 13 districts in the province of KP. On election day, security measures were also put in place to ensure that law and order are maintained.

In a recent announcement, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that the voting for the second phase of the KP LG elections will take place on March 31.
