Buckingham Palace previews King Charles’ first state visit

In an exclusive sneak peek, Buckingham Palace showed what is being done to get ready for the state visit of the President of South Africa, which is being hosted by King Charles.

The palace wrote on its official Twitter handle, along with a photo and video of the preparations, “The State Visit is the first to be hosted, on behalf of the nation, by His Majesty the King.”

In another one of its tweets, the account asked, “What’s been cooking in the kitchens at Buckingham Palace in preparation for the State Visit?”

The protea, which is the national flower of South Africa, has been recreated out of sugar and painted with edible color. These blooms, together with petit fours and coffee, will be presented during the state banquet.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa, arrived in Britain on Monday in advance of the first state visit that will be held by King Charles III in his capacity as king.

At London Stansted airport, Ramaphosa landed in a South African Air Force plane, where he was greeted by a military guard of honour provided by the British government.

On Tuesday, the official schedule starts with a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
