Mufti Taqi Usmani escaped from the attack on Thursday when his wardens captured a person with a knife.
The vice president of the Darul Uloom Karachi, Usmani, one of the most prominent religious experts in Pakistan, was strolling with his guardians at his side (after Fajr prayers in Dar ul Uloom Korangi) when he was followed by a suspect.
The guards of the scholar caught the suspect and found him to be carrying an edge as per Dar ul Uloom sources before he could approach Usmani.
The suspected Usmani was not attacked by SSP Korangi Shahjahan. He stated after Fajar prayed the suspect had requested to meet the scholar.
“We continue the current investigation into the incident, the unnamed suspect has been held,” stated the SSP.
The SSP said the suspect, when he had grilled the bath stated that he was weary of regular squabbling with his wife.
The suspect is a Gulistan E-Jauhar inhabitant, he said. He said.
