Justice Ameer Bhatti will be the new Chief Justice of the LHC

Pakistan’s Chief Judge (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed recommended the name of Judge Mohammed Ameer Bati for the post of Chief Justice of the Lahore Supreme Court (LHC) because the current LHC CJ Judge Mohammad Qasim Khan, in January July, had to retire.

CJ Gulzar held a Pakistan Judicial Commission meeting on June 10 to consider Judge Bhatti’s candidacy for CJ’s new LHC. Judge Ameer became an additional judge at the LHC on 12 March 2011 and will retire on 7 March 2024.

He is currently a senior judge at LHC. CJP is also considering appointing two judges to the Supreme Court because currently there are two vacant seats in the Supreme Court. Judge Faisal Arab will retire on November 4 and Judge Manzur Ahmad Malik on April 30. Judges are selected for the National Assembly by the Supreme Courts of Balochistan and Sindh.
