Oscar Awards slammed by Jimmy Kimmel for ignoring ‘Spider Man’

Jimmy Kimmel is among many who slammed the Oscar Awards 2022. He used the broadcast of his late-night talk programme to open up about ignoring of Spider Man: No Way Home.

“I’m baffled as to why it didn’t make the cut for best picture” he said during his monologue. Do not consider it a success because the film has raked in over $750 million in box office receipts in the United States. It was a pleasure to see this film. Surely, it wasn’t one of the year’s greatest films?

Jimmy Kimmel has particularly slammed Oscar awards for the nomination of Don’t Look Up over No Way Home. “It had three Spider-Mans in it. That Don’t Look Up was better than Spider-Man is just plain wrong. The man insisted that it was not.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first pandemic period picture to make more than $1 billion at the box office. It earned excellent reviews from the critics as well. However, the film has only nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 2022 Oscars.

Furthermore, Tom Holland, the film’s star has previously remarked that he didn’t regard an Oscar nomination as a necessary validation for the picture. If the film has nominated for an Oscar, It would certainly be a big honour, but I think that’s not how we prefer to recognise ourselves.
