Israel’s Minister for Regional Cooperation Ofir Akunis has rejected reports claiming that Pakistan has recognized the State of Israel.
During a conversation with Israeli television broadcaster, Akunis revealed that during the tenure of US President Donald Trump, Israel was trying to formalize its relationship with a fifth Muslim nation, but the country in question was not Pakistan.
Akunis said, “There will be a US announcement about another country that will announce the normalization of relations with Israel and basically with the infrastructure for peace deals.”
The Israeli minister declined to name his country, but announced that there were two possible candidates, one of which was in the Persian Gulf. He explained that it was not the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that left Oman as a possible candidate.
Pakistan emphatically rejects unsubstantiated speculation about the possibility of double recognition of the State of Israel.
“The prime minister has made it clear that Pakistan cannot recognize Israel unless a just solution is found to the Palestinian problem which will satisfy the Palestinian people.”The State Department said
Another country is further east and is a “no small Muslim country,” which suggests that it is not Pakistan.
