From March 20 to April 2, the Islamabad Police, Rangers, and Frontier Constabulary (FC) will have extraordinary powers, stated Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed.
The minister told reporters during a UN session on anti-human trafficking that law enforcement forces are fully capable of dealing with any undesirable situation.
Sheikh Rasheed said roughly 1,000 FC and Rangers men were summoned to Islamabad for security duties following the no-confidence motion, adding that more personnel would be sent if needed.
Sheikh Rasheed said the government would fully secure and safeguard the March 25 and 27 rallies. “The Interior Ministry is responsible for protecting people’s lives and property,” he continued.
If the opposition wants to stage a rally on March 27, it should meet with Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner. And the administration would provide safe passage to the opposition rally.

He emphasised that no one would be allowed to break the law and that violators would be dealt with harshly.
The minister said Pakistan faced foreign terrorism threats, and that sustaining peace and combating terrorism was not just the government’s job.
On the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, he claimed the legislature would not meet on March 27 because it was a Sunday.
Assuring PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman that “the PPP and PML-N would escape and you would be trapped”, he lamented his actions “dragging the country towards anarchy”.
Rashid predicted PM Imran Khan would be “stronger” after March 25, noting his recent surge in popularity.
Sheikh Rasheed believes Imran Khan will win the no-trust vote. Regardless of the outcome of the no-confidence motion, Imran will be the lone benefactor.
