Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced the building of multi-story barracks in the seven prisons and the implementation of the Prisoner Information System in the 21 province’s prisons.
He was speaking with Punjab Minister for Prisons Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, who had paid him a visit in Lahore.
Chohan reminded Chief Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan that the Punjab government has proposed jail system changes designed to preserve detainees’ fundamental rights.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar told Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht that money was granted for the Annual Development Programme’s ongoing development projects by the Department of Finance.
He added that to monitor the quality and transparency of the projects, the services of the Directorate-General for Monitoring and Assessment would be provided, as well as third-party audits.
