The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted temporary bail to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Hyder Jamali for a period of ten days in connection with an investigation into assets derived from sources other than known sources of income.
The Sindh High Court heard the former chief of police of the province’s temporary bail application. The high court, in granting interim release to Ghulam Hyder Jamali in connection with an assets investigation conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), instructed the applicant to contact the NAB court in the future.
Following the amendments to the NAB’s ordinance, cases involving graft will be handled in the accountability court. Apart from the assets investigation, Jamali is also facing a NAB reference for alleged abuse of power and misappropriation of funds from the department while serving as the Sindh Inspector General of Police.

An accountability court in Karachi charged former Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Hayder Jamali and six other individuals in a corruption case that arose during his tenure as the department’s top cop.
According to the National Accountability Bureau, recruiting was carried out for positions such as constables and computer operators, among others, resulting in a loss to the national exchequer of more than Rs500 million.
