Japanese company Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Corp have stopped the production temporarily at their unites in Malaysia due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in the country, Company said on Tuesday.
Toyota closed two plants yesterday, according to a report from Nikkei Asia. A spokesman said it would decide later when they would reopen. On the other hand, Honda also suspended production at two plants on Wednesday – one producing two-wheel vehicles and the other four-wheel drive – and plans to halt operations until MCO discontinue on January 26.
Honda also suspended production at two plants on Wednesday, as each factory makes two wheels while the other makes four wheels.
Malaysian Prime Minister Muhydin Yassin announced on Friday a “total blockade” from June 1 to 14 to curb the recent spike in coronavirus infections.
The move force to limit Covid-19 infections in the country as Malaysia experienced the third wave of the September pandemic.
Toyota Last Year Production
Last year Toyota produced about 51,000 cars in Malaysia, will stop his sales and production from the Tuesday. A spokesperson said, company adding that he had not decided when production units would resumes and start production.

Selangor, Penang, Melaka, Johor, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan have placed under MCO since midnight on Wednesday.
MCO 2.0 implemented due to the spread of Covid-19, which records four-digit daily cases from the end.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhiydin Yassin said the MCO would run from two weeks to January 26.
