Bollywood actor and Member of Parliament, Hema Malini, recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the lack of female-centric roles in the OTT platforms.

During an interview with Mid-Day, the veteran actor pointed out that male actors continue to dominate the industry with roles written especially for them.

According to Malini, the opportunities for author-backed roles for actresses are scarce in the industry. She cited Amitabh Bachchan as an example, stating that even now, special roles are written specifically for him. However, such roles are not written for actresses, and this is a concern that needs to be addressed.

The actor also added that if someone could write a tailor-made role for her, it would be a welcome change. Malini expressed her desire to explore different roles, from dramatic to out of the box, but lamented the fact that she had not been offered any such role as yet.

As an artiste, she wants to do exciting projects and is waiting for a role that she can say yes to immediately. Despite this, she reiterated that she would never say no to acting as it is her passion.

Hema Malini made her acting debut in 1963 with the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam and has since acted in several successful Bollywood movies. Her last appearance was in Shimla Mirchi, which also starred Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh.
