Health Workers Protest Against Non-Payment of Covid Risk Mission

District health workers announced a strike in Islamabad to protest the non-payment of the COVID-19 risk subsidy and decided to stage a protest at the F-9 mass vaccination center on Wednesday.

District health workers announced the closing of federally-run vaccination centers to protest Covid’s non-payment of risk subsidy. They added that doctors, LHV, LHW, supervisors, and nurses will not be joining the functions today.

District health department officials said the government is paying Covid subsidies to hospital staff, but district health department officials were completely neglected. They required the government to provide Covid’s risk licenses from July 2020 to July 2021.

On the other hand, the Islamabad District Health Officer (DHO) urged health department officials not to go on strike as this would affect the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The DHO said that the employees’ demands were forwarded to the Ministry of Health and the federal government will accept the fair demands.

It is pertinent to mention here that health workers in public hospitals in Islamabad have been on strike since Monday against the non-release of the COVID-19 risk subsidy.

Physicians and paramedic staff from PIMS, Polyclinic, CDA, FGH, and others closed the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) in protest to force the federal government to release the COVID-19 risk subsidy to them in advance.
