Great Wall Motor (GWM) Tank 500 expectedly will take on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

The Tank 500 has revealed in August 2021 at the Chegdu Motor Show by Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor (GWM). As a new off-road-oriented SUV from the Tank sub-brand, the car is already available in China. It has also reported that China will be able to get their hands on the Tank 500 as well as foreign markets.

There were rumours that Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will be a tough competitor for Tank 500 when it has first launched. The GWM Tank 500 is somewhat bigger than the Land Cruiser Prado. It is 4,825 mm long, 1,885 mm wide, 1,890 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,790 mm.

There are four distinct trim levels for the Tank 500, making it suitable for a wide range of buyers. The base model costs $52,500 while the top-of-the-line model costs $62,000. In all variants, a 3.0L V6 turbocharged gasoline engine provides power to all four wheels through an optional 48-volt mild hybrid motor integrated into the 9-speed automatic transmission with flappy pedals.

The clever 44 system in the GWM Tank 500 has 11 driving mode options. It makes it adaptable to a wide range of scenarios. CEO of Tank Motors, says the business developed a brand-new engine to compete with China’s import monopoly in the big SUV market.
