Gunter Nezhoda, a beloved cast member of the popular reality show “Storage Wars,” has died at the age of 67 after a six-month battle with lung cancer. Nezhoda’s son Rene confirmed the news, saying his father passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday night.
Gunter Nezhoda, who was known for his friendly personality and likable demeanor on the show, was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2022, after being a smoker for over 30 years. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and emergency surgery in Utah, doctors informed the family that there was nothing more they could do.
Rene, in a video shared with TMZ, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received from fans of the show. He stated that his father was a fan favorite and one of the most well-liked members of the “Storage Wars” crew.
“He was one of the guys on ‘Storage Wars’ that never really got any hate, people just loved him and being around him, including the crew,” Rene said. “Everybody loved working with my dad, so I appreciate the support.”
Rene also revealed that his family had kept Nezhoda’s diagnosis private, but wanted to share the news of his passing with his fans, who had formed a special connection with him.
“Today is a very sad day, and this is a very hard video for me to make,” Rene said. “But I’m telling you guys this because I know that you guys connected with my dad.”
Nezhoda’s passing is a huge loss for the “Storage Wars” family and his many fans. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, kind heart, and love of life.
