At least four individuals were shot outside the Washington D.C. National Park stadium, resulting to a baseball ban.
The Washington Nationals tweeted on Saturday night at 21:47, adding that the fans had been asked to leave the stadium, “A gunshot outside the Third Base Gate was reported at the Nationals Park.”
In a tweet shortly thereafter, the Columbia District Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC) reported that “there was a shooting on 1500 Block of South Capitol Street, S. W. where two persons were shot outside the National Park. This is an active inquiry presently and there appears to be no continuing threat,” Xinhua news agency said.
The MPDC later reported in an update that two additional victims of the occurrence went to local hospitals for gunshot wound treatment.
As a result of the incident, the game was finally halted, authorities stated.
