Turkey’s efforts to control fires in forests are continuing at full rapidity

Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced on Monday that 125 of the country’s 132 fires in forests have brought under control. Efforts to extinguish the remaining fires in forests are ongoing.

Bekir Pakdemirli told reporters at the fire coordination center in Milas district in southwest Mugla province.

“A total of 16 planes, nine drones, 51 helicopters, one unmanned helicopter, 850 water sprinklers and 150 construction equipment have used to extinguish the fire”. Minister also added that more than 5,000 people have deployed.

At least eight people died in the fires that started on July 28 and had blown by strong winds.

Another Turkey’s official Fehrettin Altun urged people not to succumb to misinformation about the fires. “Please let us rely on the statements of the official authorities,” he said.

He also added that Turkey is strong and will compensate for any losses.
