JUI-F chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman and president of Pakistan Democratic Movement have made it clear that their parties will never communicate with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration about any matter, particularly the issue of electoral reforms.
This was stated by the leader of the JUI-F during a telephone conversation with a senior PML-N leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
According to the Daily Times, Fazlur Rehman also requested that the PML-N leader take the JUI-F and other parties of the PDM alliance into confidence when it comes to meeting with the government on topics relating to electoral reform.
A joint parliamentary committee to discuss election reforms was proposed during a recent meeting of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar with lawmakers from the government and the opposition, and it was approved by the meeting participants.
In accordance with the National Assembly Secretariat’s announcement, the parliamentary committee will be comprised of members from both houses and will study the election reforms with the goal of making additional recommendations to the National Assembly.
