Fawad says opposition understands that for another term PM Imran would remain in power

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that the opposition raised its voice and weeps for manipulation in the upcoming elections, knowing that Prime Minister Imran Khan will win another term.

“We want to include an electronic voting machine in the system to solve the voting problem,” Fawad said in a speech to the National Assembly on Tuesday.

“There is no leadership in the opposition, it is a broken group,” he said.

“From 1947 to 2008, Pakistan borrowed 6 trillion rupees from foreign sources,” the minister said, adding that the country used the money to build the world’s fifth largest army, building Islamabad, highways, naval bases and the Gwadar port.

In addition, the information minister said the government should pay Rs 1,500 billion to the IPP by 2023, noting that the country currently has a capacity of 30,000 megawatts but can only distribute around 24,000 megawatts.

Last week, Fawad Chaudhry attacked former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying the PML-N president could go anywhere as long as he returned the “looted wealth”.

The Minister of Information believes that the government wants to bring the accountability process to a logical conclusion.
