Kate Middleton has retained her own royal image despite comparisons. Royal insiders say Kate’s success is because she never attempted to be like Princess Diana.
The Duchess, compared to Diana by the media for her wardrobe choices, has followed Diana’s lead when making family decisions. Her legacy has never overshadowed her uniqueness.
Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal writer, told 9Honey that one of Kate’s strengths is that she hasn’t followed Diana’s footsteps.
“She doesn’t want to be Diana,” she said.
“I think she was conscious of the similarity from the beginning, but despite the weight of that engagement ring and the analogies it draws, she is a completely different woman,” the journalist said.
“She’s carved her own identity as the Duchess of Cambridge,” said Nicholl.
The article applauded Kate for emulating Diana in her wardrobe choices and parenting style.
