Reiterating his consistent and unambiguous stance on the Kashmir conflict, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged for a peaceful conclusion in accordance with United Nations (UN) resolutions.
In his address to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Erdogan stated that “we have maintained our position in favour of resolving the ongoing problem in Kashmir, which has existed for 74 years, through dialogue between the parties and within the framework of relevant UN resolutions.”
The 67-year-address old’s this year, on the other hand, was more moderate in comparison to his past remarks, in which he referred to the Kashmir conflict as a firing problem.
Because of the growing international sympathy for the Kashmir cause, India, which considers the issue to be a “internal affair,” has issued strong objections.
The Secretary-General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum, headquartered in Washington, praised Erdogan’s allusion to the Kashmir conflict, saying his remarks at the United Nations provided inspiration to the Kashmiri people.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan also mentioned the Palestinian-Israeli issue during his address, describing it as one of the most significant challenges in the area that fuelled instabilities and threatened peace and security in the region.
He advocated for a two-state solution, stating that it is essential for the resumption of the peace process. He went on to say that the capital of a Palestinian state remained a “priority goal” for his country.
