England cricket board chief apologizes for cancelling Pakistan tour

Because of the cancellation of the Pakistan tour, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has apologized to the Pakistani government and cricket fans throughout the world.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ECB Chairman Ian Watmore stated that the people of Pakistan were “very dissatisfied” with the bank’s decision to cancel its tour of the country. “The decision was made by the cricket board,” he explained, adding that players were not consulted about it.

The ECB chief further added that the decision was made to ensure the mental health of the players due to the hectic nature of the cricket season; however, he admitted that it was a difficult one to make.

It was decided after the World Cup and after New Zealand withdrew from a Pakistan tour, according to English cricket chief Andrew Strauss. “I will not go into specifics, but the decision was made solely for the security and welfare of the players,” Strauss said.

Added to that, Watmore stated that the English cricket body will have to improve its relationship with Pakistan and concentrate on the 2022 trip of the country. He went on to say that he was grateful to Pakistan for travelling the country during a difficult time.
