Actor Drake Bell sentenced to probation in child endangerment case

Drake Bell, the former star of the famous Nickelodeon program “Drake & Josh,” was sentenced to two years probation on child endangerment charges related to a girl who contacted him online and accused him of sexual contact after attending his performance when she was 15.

The victim, who is 19, testified at length about the harm Bell has done to her life, claiming he began grooming her when she was 12 years old.

She said that she originally felt loved and protected by him during online talks, but that his communications became “blatantly sexual” once she turned 15. She said that his comments made her uncomfortable, but she felt stuck since she “idolized” Bell.

Drake Bell, who is also a singer, began performing as a kid but rose to prominence as a teen with Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show” and then “Drake & Josh,” which premiered on the channel in January 2004.

In September 2007, the final episode aired. Bell and her co-star Josh Peck also appeared in two “Drake & Josh” films.
