Dr. Azra Pechuho, Sindh’s health minister, revealed on Friday that the province had its first instance of the so-called Indian coronavirus type.
In an interview with Geo News, the minister stated that the South African strain of the potentially fatal virus is also spreading rapidly in Karachi.
“So far, the province has seen seven instances of the South African COVID-19 variety and one incidence of the Indian COVID-19 variation,” Dr Pechuho stated. “Because the majority of the cases have been documented in children under the age of two, parents should get immunised as soon as possible to avoid contracting the virus from their children.”

Serological testing on 57 samples found that the South African and British strains accounted for 71 percent and 20 percent of infections in Karachi, respectively, according to the health minister.
It may be noted that one of the 12 Indian diplomats’ wives had tested positive for coronavirus after a recent visit to Pakistan. The government has ordered all 12 Indian officials, as well as their families, to finish the quarantine period.
