Former US President Donald Trump YouTube Account will be restored as Risk of Violence decreases YouTube CEO says

Former President Donald Trump YouTube account will finally restored according to the platform’s current guidelines, company CEO Susan Wojciechi said Thursday.

Trump’s account will not restored until YouTube believes the risk of violence has decreased, Wojciechski said at an Atlantic Council event.

YouTube will use a combination of indicators to assess levels of violence. This including statements from government officials, readiness to sue. This any violent rhetoric YouTube can observe on its own platform, he said.

It is difficult to say when Trump’s account will be recovered, he said. However, he added that it would continue to suspended for the time being amid ongoing concerns about the possibility of new violence against the US Capitol this week.

Officials were on high alert after the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and the US Capitol Police. They warned of a possible extremist plan to attack the Capitol compound on March 4.

“It’s pretty clear right now,” she said, “that there is still an elevated risk of violence.”

Trump YouTube account suspended on January 12 for violating YouTube’s guidelines for urging to violence. Back then, YouTube said the restrictions would last at least a week.

Other platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, have also banned Trump’s accounts after the US Capitol riots in January. Facebook (FB) has asked the board of directors to decide whether to recover the account.

Although Trump’s account will restored at some point, Wojciechki said. It could still permanently blocked if he gets two more strikes under YouTube rules within 90 days.
