Covid kills another 74 people in one day infects 2,724 people in Pakistan

74 coronavirus deaths and 2,724 new positive infections were reported nationwide in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest statistics from the National Command and Operations Center, 62,706 tests were carried out during the same period, while the positive rate remains at four points, three, four percent.

The pandemic’s death toll in the country has reached 20,540. In the last 24 hours (Wednesday) 3,901 patients have recovered from the coronavirus while the total recovery is 831,744.

As of Thursday, the number of active cases was recorded at 59,018, while the positive number was even lower at 4.34 percent.

To date, 313,059 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 337,073 in Punjab, 131,027 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 80,779 in Islamabad, 24,823 in Balochistan, 19,008 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and 5,533 in Gilgit Baltistan. So far, 9,899 people have died in the Punjab pandemic, 4,966 in Sindh, 4,009 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 751 in Islamabad, 535 in Azad Kashmir, 273 in Balochistan, and 107 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Health facilities across the country are running 62,706 tests to detect the coronavirus, bringing the total number of Covid-19 tests to 13,006.32, the first case reported early last year.

Pakistan also announced on Wednesday that it would open its Covid-19 vaccination registrations for people over the age of 19 on May 27.
