Parliamentary Secretary of the National Health Service, Dr. Naushin Hamid said on Sunday that on the recommendation of experts, the government decided to vaccinate people over 60 with China’s Sinopharm vaccine, as data from neighboring countries on its effectiveness was available.
Speaking to a private news channel, Dr. Hamid, Pakistan has launched a nationwide coronavirus vaccination campaign for the general public starting with the elderly.
She said Pakistan vaccinated the older age group with the Sinopharm vaccine after it was approved by a panel of technical experts.

The Secretary of Parliament clarified that although the Sinopharm vaccine was not originally recommended for elderly people in Pakistan, Pakistani experts, after receiving data from countries such as the United Arab Emirates and China, also supported its effectiveness and use for the elderly.
She said other registered health workers from the first phase of vaccination and parents should send SMS 1166 or enter their details on the National Immunization Management System (NIMS) website, adding that eligible citizens should contact the vaccination center and vaccination date. will be communicated via SMS.
