Wang urged Washington to respect China’s core interests, stop defaming the ruling Communist Party, stop interfering in Beijing’s internal affairs, and stop “considering” Taiwan’s independence for separatist forces.
“In last years, the Washington has largely disrupted bilateral dialogue between countries at all levels,” Wang Yi said.
“We Chinese are always ready for open communication and problem-solving relational dialogues with the United States”, he added.
Wang cited the recent phone call between Chinese President and US President as a positive step.
Both have fought on multiple fronts, including trade, human rights allegations against the Uyghur Muslim minority in the China’s Xinjiang region and Beijing’s territorial claims to the resource-rich South China Sea.
US President’s concerns about China’s policy
However, the Biden government has signaled it will continue to pressure Beijing. Biden has expressed his concerns about China’s “forced and unfair” trade practices. Also supported the Trump administration’s decision that China had committed genocide in Xinjiang region.
However, Biden is also committed to a more diversified approach and is prepared to work with Beijing on issues such as climate change and convince North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons.
