China maintains the world’s No. 1 largest manufacturing center for 11 consecutive years

China has maintained its position as the largest manufacturing center in the world for 11 consecutive years, accounting for nearly 30 percent of global manufacturing production, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Moreover, Over the past five years, industrial production in China has increased from 23.5 trillion yuan (about 3.63 trillion US dollars) to 31.3 trillion yuan, said MIO Minister Xiao Yaqing on Monday.

However, During the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), the average growth rate of value-added production in the China high-tech manufacturing center reached 10.4%, 4.9 percentage points above general industrial production, showed MIIT data.

The information transmission and information technology software and services industries also made remarkable progress during the period.

Consequently, Industrial value-added production increased from 1.8 trillion yuan to 3.8 trillion yuan, with the proportion of gross domestic product growing from 2.5% to 3.7%, added Xiao.

At the end of 2020, fixed broadband penetration in households in China reached 96 percent, while the mobile broadband penetration rate reached 108 percent, the data showed.

In terms of 5G development,the country also built a total of 718,000 5G base stations at the end of last year, with more than 200 million mobile terminals connected to it, according to MIIT.
