Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy Xie Gouxiang on Saturday invited Pakistani companies to participate in the Canton Fair and explore the prospects for exporting their products around the world.
Canton Fair is the largest trade show with the largest scale, a complete range of exhibitions, the widest distribution of foreign buyers, and the highest turnover in Guangzhou, China.
Xie Gouxiang held an online meeting with Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and informed him about the details of the 129th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair).
The fair will take place online April 15-24, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a press release said.
He also said that the fair is a platform for corporation between different countries, where entrepreneurs from all over the world connect, share opportunities, and seek common development.
Therefore, it provided a great opportunity for Pakistani companies to explore new prospects for business promotion.
Moreover, Xie Gouxiang said companies reduce their production and operating costs, adding that the next Canton Fair will continue to exempt exhibitor fees and will not charge any fees for international e-commerce platforms that participate in synchronized activities.
He said that greater participation by Pakistani companies in the Canton Fair would contribute significantly to promoting economic and trade ties between China and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, I thanked Xie Gouxiang, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy for providing comprehensive information on the benefits of participating in the Canton Fair online and ensured that ICCI member companies would participate fully in this event.
He appreciated the signing of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA-II) and emphasized that China should provide greater market access for Pakistan’s products, as imports from China stood at $ 12.7 billion and Pakistan’s exports to China in the US $ 1.85 billion in 2019.
Yasir Ilyas Khan said that Pakistan was establishing many Special Economic Zones under CPEC and Chinese companies should transfer technology to establish JVs in these SEZs with Pakistani counterparts based on 50 percent equity.
This would help the local industry to update itself and achieve better growth.
