There is evidence that Rana Mohammad Shamim, a former chief judge of Gilgit-Baltistan who accused former Pakistani chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar of judicial interference in references to corruption against PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz , has long-standing relations with the supreme PML-N, and its party, both as carrier-officer and prosecutor, has long-standing relations with the PML-N.
In the words of Ahmed Hassan Rana, the son and lawyer of the former top judge in the United Kingdom, his father has stayed “in direct contact” with Nawaz and has even visited with the PML-N supremo in England prior to the pandemic.
In an interview with a private news channel, Rana acknowledged that Justice Shamim had previously served as vice-president of the PML-N Sindh and had represented Nawaz in the Memogate affair case. During the same day that Rana’s media appearances took place, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued show-cause orders to many individuals, including journalist Ansar Abbasi, former judge Shamim, and two others.

According to a report by Abbasi, Justice Shamim claimed that he witnessed ex-CJP Nasir relaying instructions to a high court judge three years ago to deny Nawaz and Maryam bail in the corruption references filed against them ahead of the 2018 general elections. The court took notice of the report on Monday.
The report, which was welcomed as vindication by the PML-N, was later discredited by Justice Nisar. Justice Shamim was unable to attend the hearings presided over by Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the International Human Rights Court owing to health problems, and was represented in court by his son.
While declining to answer any questions on his father’s behalf, Advocate Rana stated that he himself was serving as the Punjab assistant advocate general at the time of Nawaz’s detention in 2018 and had also met with the PML-N leader while in jail, according to the Associated Press. He stated that his father had last met Nawaz while on a visit to the United Kingdom prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
“[Shamim] has remained [Nawaz’s] attorney, and the two have maintained a professional relationship. They are in close contact with one another “Rana shared her thoughts.
Rana appeared to place a live phone call to Justice Shamim in order to inquire about his meeting with Nawaz. According to Rana, his father answered by saying, “I have no comments.” The former judge, on the other hand, stated in a text from Shamim that he had not distributed the affidavit in question to any media and that it had possibly been “leaked” from the office of the notary public in London who had seen the document.
